Welcome to the world of ATA, and Songahm Taekwondo. We are a diverse, and inclusive martial arts school located in East Richmond, BC. Family owned and operated since 2000!

Every Martial Art teaches things like punching, kicking, sparring and self defence. Some Schools also teach things like weapons, and board breaking. Every Martial Art School should help their students develop Core Life Skills like Self Esteem, Confidence, Focus, Self Discipline, Self Control and more.

We do it all! For students ages 4 to 104, we help you develop yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally – helping you turn dreams into achievable goals!

How will I know if I like it?

We have a 2 Week Trial program, completely free! Head on over to our Programs Page to check it out!

How much does it cost?

We think that before you ask about the cost, you should find an instructor who you connect with, this is why we have a free trial. They will be the most able to help you make the changes you see within yourself, or your child. When you are seeking to master yourself, cost should not matter. Whether it’s $60/mo. $120/mo. or even $200/mo. What you seek is invaluable. With that being said, all of our program fees are available on our programs page – select the program of interest, and your desired start date to see the price. We also believe that cost should not be a barrier to receiving the benefits of Martial Arts Training.

What do you teach?

We teach the art of Songahm Taekwondo. Brought to the USA by Eternal Grand Master H.U. Lee in 1969. Our programs also encompass core life skills such as Self Esteem, Confidence, Self Control, and more. Our curriculum consists of Forms (Poomsae), Self Defence, Weapons, Point Sparring, Weapons Combat (using training weapons), Board Breaking, and more.

How long does it take to achieve a Black Belt?

A dedicated student can reach Black Belt in approximately 3 to 3.5 years.

How do you become an instructor?

We have Leadership and Legacy Instructor Programs. Leadership is an open enrollment program, beginning at white belt. Students can enroll directly into leadership. Our leadership students have extra tasks on top of our regular curriculum. Once a student reaches Black Belt, they may get invited to take part in the Legacy Instructor Program. This program takes approximately 3 years to complete due to the required supervised teaching hours the student must complete to progress through three levels of Instructor Training before attending and completing an Instructor Certification Seminar.
